傾く （かぶく）とは、 派手で異様な身なりをするさま。自由奔放で好き勝手に振舞うさま。「傾く」は歌舞伎の語源ともなった言葉だが、アウトロー的意味合いがあった最初のニュアンスは現代では忘れられかけている。当初の歌舞伎者が現代では人間国宝になってしまっているぐらいだから。十一代目海老蔵がお茶のCMで「正統派」なんて言っていたのを思い出すと笑えない。時代が変わると反体制的な異端も正統的な伝統になってしまうということでしょうか。暴走族の改造したバイクや特攻服、トラック野郎のデコレーションされたデコトラは、この「傾く」精神を継承した現代の一変種といえるのではないか、ということでそんな族車、デコトラ、特攻服などと日本を象徴するモティーフを融合させ、「傾く」精神を造形化したのがこのシリーズ。
